John O’Connell Summer Concert Series

A neighborhood tradition since 1985, our Summer Concert Series brings performers near and far to Horner and its satellite parks.

Donate to our Concerts

Our Summer Concert Series – now named after longtime Committee Chair John O’Connell – brings together neighbors of all ages, from the communities around our parks. HPAC funds the annual series of free concerts through neighbor donations and business sponsors, producing an annual program that’s distributed to household subscribers and area businesses, as well as handed out at each show.

The well-rounded program aims to provide something for everyone. Artists who perform in the series come from a diverse background, with recent acts ranging from Polynesian dancers to the music of Brazil and Mexico, as well as traditional jazz, pop, blues and rock.

Each year’s concert season features at least 8 shows, including performances arranged by local dance and piano studios, and regular appearances by the Horner Park Jazz Band, who provide an afternoon of Sunday Jazz in the Park that makes even Ravinia goers jealous.

Recent artists include such acts as Great Moments in Vinyl, The Waco Brothers, Second Hand News, Nathan Graham, and Grammy-winning jazz saxophonist Frank Catalano.
