Come out for a sweet evening of familiar tunes as the Old Town School brings two of its finest ensemble groups to entertain at Manor Park.
Starting at 7 PM, be inspired by the sounds of the Americana Ensemble, followed by the Irish Ensemble at 8
The Old Town School of Folk Music’s Americana Ensemble presents American popular music of the 1920s and 30s (”Side by Side,” “Sunny Side of the Street,” etc.) but also includes songs from the folk revival (”This Land is Your Land”) and later (Mark Dvorak’s “Every Step of the Way”). Led long-time Old Town School teacher, Skip Landt, at the Old Town School, all ages can expect a rollicking good time when this act takes the stage.
The Irish Session Ensemble takes the tunes, songs, and rhythms many folks may recognize and adds new ones to the mix as they share their love of all things Celtic. Headed up by beloved Old Town School instructors Mike Austin (bodhran) and Teresa Shine (fiddle), you can expect stories, jokes, and lots of great music. Come join us!
This show is presented by the Horner Park Advisory Council in partnership with the Chicago Park District. It is sponsored by the Old Town School of Folk Music.
