Alderman Deb Mell
33rd Ward Office
3649 N. Kedzie
Chicago, IL 60618
Dear Alderman Mell,
The Horner Park Advisory Council recently inquired about the frequently vandalized and outdated bus shelter on Montrose Ave. near the northern tennis courts at Horner Park. After some discussion over relocating unused shelters located elsewhere in the city, we were informed that the 33rd ward has access to an extra shelter that could be used to replace the one that is there now.
A new bus shelter will be a welcome replacement for the unsightly white painted plexiglas enclosure that we currently have in the park. Several HPAC members have requested and the HPAC board agrees that it is time to replace this structure with something that can be more readily maintained and one that is consistent with the other bus shelters in the park.
Horner Park will be undergoing a major transformation in the coming years as the long awaited riverfront restoration project gets underway this spring. We thank you for your support of that project and we hope that this new bus shelter will help contribute to the beautifully restored landscape nearby.
The Horner Park Advisory Council respectfully requests that the 33rd ward replace the old bus shelter and hope you will agree that it is time for an upgrade in this area of Horner Park. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Peter Schlossman
Horner Park Advisory Council
President
