HornerFest makes its return engagement on Saturday, July 16. Starting at 8 AM, the day kicks off with tours of the Riverbank Restoration project by the US Army Corps of Engineers, with tours lasting until 5:30. Other activities planned for the day include Yoga by Dovetail Studios, kid’s games starting at 3 PM, and face painting and crafts starting at 4 PM.
Taylor Moore & Friends takes the concert stage at 3 PM, and the Salsa Chicago Mambo All-Stars Orchestra performs at 7. The Lego Movie begins at dusk.
The Chicago Mambo All-Stars was started in 2006 by Chicago Salsa Instructor, Promoter and background vocalist Miguel Mendez. The current music director is Orlando “Tato” Otero. The remaining musicians come from a vast pool of highly talented Chicago musicians and lead vocalists which include Mr. Frddy Kenton, Efrain Otero, Jose Porcallo, Omar Guzman, Raul “Timbal” Ortiz, Bryan Izkowitz, Jr. Miguel Mendez, Miguel Olavaria, Marvin Santiago, Susan Cho, Richard “Richie” Flores and many more.
The Chicago Mambo All-stars play a vast repertoire of music including original compositions and Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Mambo, Latin Jazz, Boleros, Cha Cha Cha, Guajiras, Cumbias and more.
