A big thanks to everyone who came out to lend a hand with riverbank cleanup efforts at Horner and our other neighborhood parks for Chicago River Day 2013!
More than 25 people showed up at Horner to volunteer their time and energy pulling a small mountain of trash from the river’s banks.

Background: In 1992 25 volunteers “rescued” the Chicago River by pulling old shopping carts, mattresses, and plastic bags from its banks. Their initial efforts have built year upon year, evolving into Chicago River Day which now hosts over 4,000 volunteers at 70 sites along the river each year.
