Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 pm by President Peter Schlossman. The meeting was at the Horner Park Field House and a quorum was determined to be present
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the June 2012 meeting were approved, with changes suggested by Theresa Hicks and approved by Lisa Cleveland.
Report of the Treasurer
- MB checking 8,578.22
- MB savings 2,126.03
- Chase savings 10,329.94
- Paypal 398.58
- total $21,432.77
All accounts are reconciled and consistent with records and bank statements.
Concert Committee
Program discussed. Currently 75 subscribers and +50 advertisers. Eighteenth season a success thus far with 8 shows planned. Shakespeare well received by all, especially the children. Equipment is in good working order. Discussion of promotion of subscribers in HPAC communications. HPAC will nbot object to face painting at future performances; compliance with all rules and regulations by operator is required.
Garden Committee
Watering is a current issue. Concerning Jacob Play Lot: watering permits obtained and in place.
River Day made major improvement in Sunken Gardens.
Sarah Reiser recognized for great work at Ravenswood Manor Park.
Unanimous approval of expenditure of up to $200 for plantings at RMP and Buffalo Park.
Website Committee
Discussion of advertiser recognition.
A Facebook presence and interconnection under consideration.
Recognized need to update logo on site.
Nominating Committee
Committee in formation, with election in October. Peter Schlossman, Kevin Anderson and John O’Connell are current members.
Buffalo Park
Buffalo box is repaired allowing regular watering. Seeking to get additional CPD keys. Additional needs to be communicated by email
Sunken Gardens
Local neighbors are developing a list of needs/wants for the park. Concerns include failure to promptly empty trash containers; need for closure signs and prompt replacement of lights and repair of broken benches. Concerns prompted by continued vandalism, graffiti and other disturbances, including automobile vandalism. Neighbors are making a formal request to CPD for help. They continue to call 911 with very limited success.
Discussion of the placement of a storage facility in the park and a new tree planting.
Jacob Play Lot
CTA adjacent lot discussed, no bids received for purchase, possible use of TIF funds. Discussion of possible replacement of pirate ship play facility and discussion of an educational garden.
Horner
Annual Late Ride to pass through park with a rest station.
Discussion of vendor on California and Cullom: An apparently expanding presence now with electrical service, delivery vehicles on park property. Questions raised whether operation is in compliance with CPD permit and city sanitation regulations.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 pm. Next meeting September 10 at 7:00 Horner Park Field House.
